COMELEC lifts recall suspensions
With the appropriation of P50 million in the General Appropriations Act of 2009 for the conduct of recall elections, the Commission on Elections has ordered today the lifting of the order suspending action on all recall petitions filed and pending before the poll body.
“In anticipation of the approval of the General Appropriations Act of 2009, it is now imperative to lift COMELEC Resolution No. 8547,” said the COMELEC in Resolution No. 8579, promulgated today by the Commission en banc.
The COMELEC, thru Resolution No. 8547 promulgated November 13, 2008; put all recall petitions on the back burner until funds were made available for the purpose. ###
