COMELEC to kick-off PWD registration drive in Luzon

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will kick-off the Luzon leg of its voter registration drive for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) tomorrow, May 16, 2012, in the Pasig City Complex.

COMELEC Commissioner and PWD rights champion Rene V. Sarmiento will lead the kick-off ceremony along with COMELEC National Capital Region Director Jubil Surmieda and Pasig City Election Officers.

“The COMELEC is determined to empower PWDs nationwide by ensuring their right to suffrage,” said Commissioner Sarmiento, who also shared that satellite registrations for PWD voters have also been launched in the Visayas and Mindanao.

On May 26, 2012, the COMELEC, in coordination with PWD partner organizations, will be conducting a satellite voter registration in SM North EDSA for PWD voters residing in Quezon City. ###
